The sewer plate reproduced on this pin is located in the city of Sagamihara 相模原市. Sagamihara (Kanagawa pref.) is a city located 40 km west of Tokyo, between mountains and Lake Miyagase. It is known for its magnificent hydrangeas in spring (Sagamihara's official flower), which are featured on its enameled sewer plates. It is twinned with Toronto and Trail (Canada), and Wuxi (China).

The ministory sold with the pin evokes a few anecdotes and the heritage of Sagamihara, such as the Yokoyama clan, Paleolithic remains, the Hayabusa space probe, the squirrel park and a notorious local murderer.
